meet the team
The Levin family…
Rabbi Baruch and Kezi along with their five boys Meir, Akiva, Shneur, Dovi and Shua comprise the Levin team. Rabbi Baruch gained his Semicha (Rabbinical Ordination) in Belgium, following a course of study that included Yeshivot in the UK, the USA, Israel and Australia where he met Kezi, a graduate of the Ohel Chana Seminary Melbourne and the Central Saint Martins College of Art. In tandem with their communal activities, Rabbi Baruch maintains another set of books as a practising accountant and Kezi is a graphic designer.
When the Levin boys aren’t juggling, riding their unicycles or doing acrobatics they can be found at school unless of course they are at Shul contributing, each in their own way, to building the fabric of the Brondesbury Park community.
Catherine Charles – Welfare
Dan, married to Danielle, has been an active member of Brondesbury Park since 2008. Living in Cricklewood, they are two of the growing number of young professionals within the community. Dan grew up in Pinner, and works as a Chartered Surveyor in the West End. A keen sportsman, including a long career in the Maccabi Southern Football League as a player and more recently manager, Dan’s other hobbies include being a Season Ticket holder at his beloved Liverpool FC, and being a doting father to his young daughter, Isabella.
Dan Turner – Chairman
Dan’s love of all things European (french wine, scotch whiskey, belgian beer, and scouse football) culminated in marrying Noemie, a Marseillaise, and in 2005 they decamped from Golders Green to find a young thriving Jewish community.
Doing their bit for Brondesbury Park youth development they have trois jolies filles, Ellie, Mariel and Shoshana, all of whom speak french better than their father! Together they enjoy participating in BP life, and find its mix of social, religious and communal activities highly rewarding.
Justin Selig – Vice Chairman
Belfast born and bred, Justin is a self employed solicitor, is married to Daniella and is dad to Rafi and Mimi. Justin and Daniella joined the community in 2006 and have been inspired by the warmth, friendliness and community spirit. In the time they have been members, BPark has become a huge part of their lives. As Justin puts it, ‘Growing up in a small declining community such as Belfast, makes me appreciate what a wonderful opportunity we have at BPark’.
Nathalie Lastmann – Special projects
Nathalie joined the Board this year after four years of active participation in the shul’s activities. “Joining this vibrant community upon our arrival from France has been a very uplifting experience for the whole family”. She is married to Raphael and together they have three children. She is a solicitor at the Office of Fair Trading and is the co-founder of a French legal clinic in London.
A former BBC radio presenter and reporter, Nick now works in the field of corporate communications as a Director at the International PR firm, Brunswick. He is married to Caroline, with 2 children, Juliette and James and one on the way.
Sharon is married to David (or better known as Grossy) and they have three Grosslings; Ariella, Talia and Benjamin. Having been a member of Brondesbury Park for over 4 years and having received the benefit of being part of the community Sharon thought it was time to give something back. When not juggling family life or training for an imaginary 10k run Sharon is usually hard at work trying to spot the next investment opportunity.
Simon Grabinar – Health and Safety
As Health and Safety Officer, Simon is responsible for ensuring the safety of the congregants, workers and visitors to Brondesbury Park Synagogue. This entails ensuring that the building is safe and fit for purpose as well as ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are complied with.
Stephen Usiskin – Building Management
Susan Littner– Administrator
Ever since coming on board as administrator in 2005, Susan has been at the coal face of the community manning the phones, fielding the emails and dealing with the constant stream of passing traffic much of which finds its way to her desk in the course of the working day. Susan’s favourite time of the year is the high holiday season which she finds ‘especially relaxing and particularly stress free’!
When not in her office, Susan can be found enjoying her flat in Israel or spending time at home with her family.
Carlos and Dillek Medeiros – Caretakers
At Brondesbury Park we are blessed with a devoted husband and wife caretaking team in Carlos and Dillek. They go about their work with a sense of team spirit and are loved by the community.
Carlos’s ardour for Brondesbury Park and cholent is eclipsed only by his passion for Benfica and salted cod. Neither of which appeal much to Dillek, who’s a fan of Galatasary and swears by the Baklava from her home city of Istanbul.
