learning and shiurim
Continuing Jewish Development is a key component of the Brondesbury Park philosophy. The Shabbat morning Synagogue experience is complimented by the following two weekly classes
A Talmud class on Monday evenings, for men. This session aims to navigate particular tractates of the Talmud (the main body of Jewish law and ethics) in a user friendly fashion whilst not shying away from engaging in complex areas of Jewish law. The highly interactive class is led by communal member Yossi Unterman. Previous knowledge of Talmud is an advantage but not required.
In addition to the Monday evening class, the VTG (Virtual Talmud Group) offers the opportunity to study a page of Talmud each week along with others in the community whilst engaging in some lively debate on the dedicated VTG WhatsApp group. Links including an English text of the relevant page are circulated to the group each Sunday morning by group co-ordinator Marc Cohen with people studying in their own time and participating in the group discussion at any time of the day or night.
Several other learning opportunities are held periodically, including a crash course in Judaism, a Jewish philosophy series and a series on navigating the Synagogue service.
